Stacey Etherington

Ms. Etherington, a Chandler resident and mother of six, is running for the CUSD Governing Board. A former CUSD high school English teacher and CTE advisor (2018–2025), she now serves as Dean of Health and Public Services at EVIT. She holds a B.S. in Nutrition and Communication from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership.

Etherington promotes teacher support, expanding career pathways, and “efficient” use of resources. However, her deep ties to left-leaning and Democratic networks are a significant concern for many voters. She has been actively promoted by LD13 Democrats and pro-public education groups, raising doubts about whether she would prioritize aggressive fiscal restraint or strong parental rights. Critics worry her insider educator perspective will lead to support for higher spending, bonds, overrides, and expanded social-emotional programs at the expense of core academics and taxpayer dollars.

Overall, Etherington represents a collaborative, establishment-friendly candidate favored by the district’s more progressive circles, appealing mainly to those who want an experienced insider who is unlikely to challenge the status quo or push back against administrative expansion.
