Angel Encinas
2026 City Council Candidate
Evaluation
Mr. Encinas is the current Vice Mayor of Chandler and an at-large City Councilmember seeking re-election in the July 2026 primary. A Chandler native and longtime downtown resident, Encinas owns an immigration consulting firm and works as a realtor.He is the first openly gay person ever elected to the Chandler City Council and represents a clear liberal/progressive voice in city government.
Encinas enjoys strong and visible endorsements from Legislative District 12 Democrats and LD 13 Democrats, as well as the national LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. He is active in Chandler Pride events and has supported diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. His platform focuses on neighborhood reinvestment, inclusive community programs, sustainability, and bringing city services directly to residents. He has publicly stated there was “zero evidence” of widespread fraud in the 2020 election, aligning with progressive positions on social and political issues. And at a time when our country is suffering an immigration crisis, he works to bring more immigrants to Arizona, or keep them from being deported.
His background as a small business owner and realtor gives him credibility on economic and housing matters, but his strongest support comes from Democratic organizations and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. Supporters appreciate his emphasis on equity and inclusion, while critics argue that his liberal leanings and heavy Democratic backing may steer Chandler toward more progressive policies than many in its traditionally moderate, suburban community prefer. It is for these reasons that;
